I took my camera into my yard several times over the course of the month of April 2012. Spring can bring me some extraordinary birds, though I don’t always have my camera ready when they make their appearance. I made a point to put in the effort and left my camera setup on my tripod in the living room for most of the month, ready to grab-and-go when the opportunity presented.
One visitor I had not expected was the Long-Tailed Weasel I spotted in back of my house one afternoon. Until this sighting I was unaware of these nearsighted predators in my neighborhood, but seeing them several times since has raised my awareness.
My yard critters during April were Orange-Crowned Warbler, Yellow Warbler, Nuttall’s Woodpecker, Pacific-Slope Flycatcher, Yellow-Rumped Warbler, Red-Shouldered Hawk, Nashville Warbler, Long-Tailed Weasel, Bewick’s Wren, Mourning Dove, Black-headed Grosbeak, House Wren, Wrentit.
