I travelled to Imperial Beach one April morning in 2013 to see if I might find any interesting bird activity. Normally I’d expect shorebirds, egrets or waterfowl at 7th Street, but to my surprise, it was Cliff Swallows gathering mud for their nests that provided the entertainment I was looking for. The harsh late morning light had me wishing for a softer light, but the action and the frenzied pace of the gathering mob, more than made up for any deficiencies.
