2017-08-17&18 Antelope Island Gulls

California Gull - Larus californicus

I don’t often get opportunities to meet Franklin’s Gulls, so when they appear before me I’m compelled to chase them with my lens. There was a carpet of Brine Flies on the beaches and we were entertained with the feeding antics of the gulls. The stars of this sideshow were the California Gulls, but the Franklin’s Gulls were also interested in the bounty of insect prey. The Ring-Billed Gulls showed no interest in the flies. I’m not sure what they were feeding on.
