Black-Throated Gray Warbler(Setophaga nigrescens) |
Description: I almost missed this bird, but it showed up when I was looking for a flycatcher I’d seen moments before. I spent a lovely day walking the paths of Quinta Mazatlan, a 20 acre reserve in McAllen (Texas). Late February may not be the best time to chase birds in the area, but those I met pleased me. |

Dusky-Capped Flycatcher(Myiarchus tuberculifer) |
Description: This was the first bird I found on entering the compound. I saw it (or its doppelganger) again on the opposite side of the reserve shortly before I ended my stay. I spent a lovely day walking the paths of Quinta Mazatlan, a 20 acre reserve in McAllen (Texas). Late February may not be the best time to chase birds in the area, but those I met pleased me. |

Great Kiskadee(Pitangus sulphuratus) |
Description: Kiskadees sounded off all over the compound, but only a few presented well enough to photograph.
