Lincoln’s Sparrows In Texas

Melospiza lincolnii

One of my favorites, Lincoln’s Sparrows range over most of the North American continent. These birds breed in bogs and wet riparian areas, mostly in northern and mountain areas. Winter finds them near the west coast of the USA, southern USA and much of Mexico.

There is a “sneaky nature” to this bird. They are often shy and retiring, refusing to reveal themselves to the interested birder. Brushy fields attract these birds, as these places tend to offer cover and feeding opportunities.

There are 31 images of these sparrows in the <Species Gallery>, some of them pretty nice. This set shows only the Texas birds.
