Mew Gull

Larus canus

The Mew Gull complex includes the Common Gull (Europe) and the Kamchatka Gull (Asia). This gull is smaller than most other “white-headed” gulls. The North American population is a West Coast specialist. The breed inland in Western Canada and Alaska and winter on the Pacific coast from Alaska to northern Baja California. They often nest on the ground near water, but sometimes nest in trees.
