White-Tipped Dove

Leptotila verreauxi

In the USA the White-Tipped Dove appears only in south Texas, but it is the most numerous dove in the Americas. These birds wander the grounds in dense undergrowth foraging on seeds, fruits, and insects. Before I laid eyes on these birds I heard their low moaning calls. Most observers believe these birds are monogamous, with both parents taking part in nest building and raising the family.
